ThinkPad X61 tablet: stylus works under Fedora 24 but not 42

I just tried my old X61t and found that the stylus didn't work under Fedora 42 (a "live" USB stick). It still works under Fedora 24. Any thoughts? Could this be due to the switch to Wayland?
